Nelson Mandela- I am the Master of my Fate and Captain of my Soul
Men like him are rare and seldom to find in our societies, because such men have one difference from the rest of them and that is that they actually care about others. To be willing to sacrifice for what one stands for and want a better life for others and want to spread equality and livelihood to society at large is what creates their greatness.
Most unfortunately in todays world, most people are concerned only about their own livelihood and really don’t care about the rest as long as their ambitions and temptations are being served.
Ask anyone a basic question, “who do you consider as your hero? ” and there will be different answers to such questions. This is a very personal sentiment and there are no correct answer to these question, because we have our own personal frame which values people as our hero. In few cases, an unknown person who saved your life or did something to you that changed your life for the better, can be your hero. Or perhaps few #NGO’s that reach out to the poor and give them a path of education and nutrition etc.. There can be so many stories that one and many can speak about. But very interestingly, we seldom hear about such people on television and in news papers just because these heroes don’t appear to fit in the frame that the society has gotten to understand as a hero, which is what we see on big screens or in the fortune 500 list of super rich.
Today’s selfish or the self centred world chooses their hero for reasons which are so superficial and short lived. But what I am trying to highlight is that the real hero from my eyes are not in the #Fortune 500 list, nor on the big screens (I mean no disrespect to anyone, while I do enjoy the movies and have my own favourites) , but for man like Nelson Mandela who is my hero because he fought and gave up his life for his country and his men.
I am asking no one to give up their life for others, or for making any major sacrifices but what i am trying to share is that if we take a small step by being compassionate to others, it would perhaps be our first chapter of what we may learn from the real heroes like #Nelson Mandela. Life can be as beautiful as we think of it and make of it. I have always found a lot of respect for people who have done a lot for others and yet have chosen to do so in a quiet fashion.
Food for thought – God bless!
